unnamed (6)Hello Friday! hello holiday parties & hello what to wear?

This year we were invited to seven different holiday parties (no, I am not bragging, or complaining….well maybe complaining a little) we ended up RSVP-ing  “we can not make it” to most. Life gets in the way of course, other parties, birthdays, work obligations or sometimes the thought of driving, searching for parking in the rain just makes you go…Um,  that’s a negative no matter how much of a party mood you are in.

Find yourself wondering what am I going to wear? its cold.. I want to look smashing but not too overdressed…. Me, well.. I head right for a little glitz & a little grunge. I love mixing neutral tones together – a charming fuzzy sweater, dazzling adornments & glam booties paired with well distressed torn jeans creates the perfect cozy cool look.

Nothing I am wearing is too expensive for that is silly to me, fashion should not cost you and arm and a leg, perhaps a few fingers (AG jeans were the most expensive item & those were a steal on sale) I am one hell of a frugal fashionista in case you were wondering. Want to know where it is all from? Drop me a note, I would be happy to share.  Oh and we have an ugly sweater party coming up – we thought we might miss it, but we are available & I can’t wait…I can share those pics of course!

Wishing You All Peace

& Joy

unnamed (5)Happy Monday friends! This morning finds me attempting to get all my Christmas cards done (notice I said attempting) every time you think you are finished you realize you left someone out! The neighbor, the dentist, the nice lady at the nail salon that always gives you a longer massage than everyone else because you are her favorite.

This is my second year in a row I have used this wonderful company called Paper Culture. A green company that uses 100% post-consumer recycled paper which means no trees are cut down. They plant a tree for you with your purchase and let you dedicate it to someone….this year I dedicated  the tree to my beautiful cousin who was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. It means so much knowing life will happen and a tree will grow in the name of my family.  They also send you a lovely little packet of seeds for you to plant a tree, such a fantastic way to celebrate the season and give back.

The photos on the cards are photos taken by me, the front is of sunny California (lately rainy damp and I need my own boat to get around) the photo on the back is an usie that we took at sunset. I was so impressed with my cards last year and this year too, I can not imagine using another company ever again! If you have not ordered your cards already take a moment stop by their site just click on Paper Culture above and your off!

unnamed (23)A little glitter and glow with a few simple holiday touches to add comfort & joy. I have the best clients, for not only did I decorate this entire loft when they moved in (the photos are just of the living & dinning space) I was asked back to decorate with just a few holiday touches for a small dinner party (hence the empty serving dishes which will be filled with goodies) The lovely family whose home I decorated today will be leaving for the holidays so no tree was needed nor lots of holiday fluff.

In this modern cozy loft every last detail you see I picked out and placed about the room, each piece of furniture down to littlest vase. The homeowner is a great artist (she will read this and give me an eye roll or tell me to hush) so her wall art is one of a kind, with a few pieces I made or had made for the Mr. & Mrs…… might be a little hard to see with the light bouncing around , afraid my iPhone photos does not do this room justice. I used sparkling silver ornaments and glass cylinders to add that soft holiday glow…accenting with ornaments in shades of teal and blue (a color used through out their home) Large and small silver snowflakes add a whimsical touch for all to enjoy, I  hung a few small snowflakes in their daughters room, I wish I could see her little eyes light up when she notices them!

White serving bowls/dishes only, for food always looks best on white (there is a reason restaurants use white) Cut pine fills vases and along with scented candles the freshness makes you feel as if you are surrounded by pine trees.  I love what I do, styling people & rooms, an entire home, changing people’s lives getting them healthy & fit…not bragging here because I don’t have fifty clients but more than a few, they keep me busy and happy all year through!

Come in From the Cold

unnamed (18)unnamed (20)unnamed (19)Here we go again…the rain, oh that friggin rain! Except this time its a pretty terrible storm. Six to nine inches of rain, insane crazy winds from thirty to seventy miles per hour depending which part of California you live in. Oh hello winter! You might have snow days on the East Coast, in Cali… we call it a rain day. Cancelled all my training appointments that were private in home and face time training only (just a little safer!)

The morning started out with a client early AM,  able to climb back into bed with my kitties and cozy up. Tried to read my magazine which is nearly impossible with a twelve pound fur ball holding it down, not to mention I feel guilty ignoring her.  Moving onto this afternoon, just a little while ago….poured some Champagne pulled out the snacks & sat down with my favorite cozy scarf on my lap  (biggest scarf I have ever owned) and I am going to attempt to read my Cali Style magazine yet again! (no cat this time) Knock on the door, Fed Ex… my Christmas Cards have come! At least I will get something accomplished today.
